After two aquathlons, I feel like I'm becoming an old hand at this.
I got my laceless Nike Fliyknit Lunar 2 which I would run sockless in to cut down transition time:

At the venue yesterday morning, I got my markings:

I set up my transition:

I checked out the water course:

But then I had the mistake of fastening my timing tag too loosely around my ankle. I was worried it would fall off when I swim.
That aside, I was all set for my first Tri-Factor race, consisting of a 5km run, a 500m swim and another 6km run. My previous aquathlons consisted of a 800km and 5km run.
The Tri-Factor event appealed to me because I prefer running to swimming,

My wife came along to be my cameraman and videographer.
The water was calm, but the swim was still challenging, I was exhausted during the second 6km run.

At least my ankle tag didn't come off.
